Irene Rusch
Irene was
the third daughter of Anton and Maria (née
Bauer) Rusch. She was
born March 7th, 1928. Irene worked as a secretary in downtown
Chicago and lived most of her life on Greenwood Avenue in Blue Island, IL.
She commuted by train to work every day and lived with and took care of her mother Maria. For those that knew her, they know she was very interested in politics and was a liberal thinker. She often liked to debate family members on current issues of the times.
Irene was also genuinely interested in her many nieces and nephews. Irene never married or had children, but she had a long term boyfriend that she traveled with and dated for over 20 years. She was a heavy smoker, had spherocytosis (a genetic blood disorder common in the Bauer family line) and eventually contracted lung cancer due to her heavy smoking. She died in 1983.
