Christian Friedrich Bauer
Maintaining the Family Business
Christian Friedrich Bauer was born on December 26, 1857 and died on July 14, 1933. He was the son to Jakob Friedrich Bauer (b.1827 - d.1899) and grandson to Jakob Salamo Bauer (b.1787 - d.1861). Christian Friedrich carried on a long generational family tradition of becoming a Shepherd just as his father and grandfather did in Wildberg, Germany.

Engagement, Nuptials and a Big Family
In the photo above, Christian Friedrich is pictured right-center, sitting across the table from his wife Anna Maria Bauer (née Renz) and surrounded by his five children (see caption). One interesting point is that his son, Wilhelm, has been "photo-shopped" (edited) into the picture. If you look closely at his head, there is a strange outline that looks like it has been pasted in. Additionally, there is a shadow on the left side of his face, which is the opposite of where the shadow falls on all other faces in the photo. We believe the family had a "stand-in person" for Wilhelm, and that just his head was pasted into the picture. We believe this because Wilhelm was likely deployed as a World War I German soldier during the time of this photo, where he may have subsequently died at the age of 22.
